GM Shipov considers this study as the best of all existing ones. Black has an extra piece and a whole bunch of passers. That is why White should act resolutely. It is very tempting for White to promote the d-pawn, but in this case Black will check from f7 and the new-born queen will be captured. White should look for other options. One of them is to play for checkmate. So:

1. Sf6+ Kg7

The only move. In case of 1... Kg6 2. Lh5+ White promotes the queen.

2. Sh5+! Kg6

There is no way back. 2... Kh7 is met with 3. Lc2+ and White wins.

3. Lc2+! Kxh5 4. d8=D Sf7+ 5. Ke6 Sxd8+ 6. Kf5

The black king is in the mating net. However, the black monach has many guards. Moreover, they are proliferating!

6... e2 7. Le4 e1=S!

Otherwise checkmate comes. Now it looks like Black managed to safely cover all the critical squares.

8. Ld5!!

Pointe! White is going to transfer his bishop to e2 via c4. However, Black has many passers left. So the fight is going on.

8... c2 9. Lc4 c1=S! 10. Lb5!!

It is all over! The white bishop gets to d1 via a4. Besides, treatening with a checkmate from e8, White is gaining a presious tempi.

10... Sc7 11. La4

Black's cavalry can't handle the white bishop!
